In May 2016 Leigh from WINGS of Hope addressed social workers from the Northern Beaches on the topic of postvention resources and supports following a suicide death.
“It is deeply meaningful for WINGS of Hope when we are invited to speak tosocial workers who will potentially be called on at some stage to provide postvention support and resources following a suicide.
I’m honoured to share my experience and insights from being in this suicide postvention for many years & I’m filled with hope knowing that in the event of a tragedy, the Social Workers I’m meeting today will be well equipped to respond to assist those left behind,” said Leigh White, co-founder and communications coordinator, WINGS of Hope.
The Red Chocolate Elephants is highly relevant to today’s presentation which includes addressing the topic of if a father should die this way. The Red Chocolate Elephants resource was created as a result of workshops with grieving families, where the children speak and share their art through their journey after losing a loved one. Anyone can donate a copy of this resource in their community and the price has been lowered to $40 including workbook and DVD.
